چکیده

For models similar to.those used in econometric work, under suitable regularity conditions, the bootstrap is shown to give asymptotically valid approximations to the distribution of errors in coefficient estimates. Running head. Bootstrapping linear models I would like to thank David Brillinger, Edwin Kuh and Thomas Rothenberg for their help.

Bootstrap Standard Error Estimates for Linear Regression

Standard errors of parameter estimates are widely used in empirical work. The bootstrap often can provide a convenient means of estimating standard errors. The conditions under which bootstrap standard error estimates are theoretically justified have not received much attention, however. This article establishes conditions for the consistency of the moving blocks bootstrap estimators of the var...

Two-Stage DEA: Caveat Emptor

This paper examines the wide-spread practice where data envelopment analysis (DEA) efficiency estimates are regressed on some environmental variables in a secondstage analysis. In the literature, only two statistical models have been proposed in which second-stage regressions are well-defined and meaningful. In the model considered by Simar and Wilson (2007), truncated regression provides consi...

Asymptotic distributions for quasi-efficient estimators in echelon VARMA models

Two linear estimators for stationary invertible vector autoregressive moving average (VARMA) models in echelon form – to achieve parameter unicity (identification) – with known Kronecker indices are studied. It is shown that both estimators are consistent and asymptotically normal with strong innovations. The first estimator is a generalized-least-squares (GLS) version of the two-step least-squ...

A Comparative Study of Least-Squares and the Weak-Form Galerkin Finite Element Models for the Nonlinear Analysis of Timoshenko Beams

In this paper, a comparison of weak-form Galerkin and least-squares finite element models of Timoshenko beam theory with the von Kármán strains is presented. Computational characteristics of the two models and the influence of the polynomial orders used on the relative accuracies of the two models are discussed. The degree of approximation functions used varied from linear to the 5th order. In ...

Bootstrapping autoregression under non-stationary volatility

This paper studies robust inference in autoregression around a polynomial trend with stable autoregressive roots under non-stationary volatility. The formulation of the volatility process is quite general including many existing deterministic and stochastic non-stationary volatility specifications. The aim of the paper is two-fold. First, it develops a limit theory for least squares estimators ...
